Tori McKinney, CEO|Realtor®

From City Hall to Concert Halls to the Halls of Education and through the Halls of Your New Home, ToriMcKinney moves fluidly and with purpose. Throughout her life, she has been known for her abundance of energy and positive outlook. "It's a matter of making the most of every moment," declaresTori. "When you put your heart and soul into everything you do, you get more out of it!” Tori’senergetic pace and infectious laugh match the way she approaches her entire day - from work to time spent with her family.

The word "active" has always been an understatement when used to describe Tori. Devoted mother, caring member of the community, and tireless charity fundraiser, She never stops giving and thinking of others. Tori’spassion for life begins with her family. Whether they’re biking together on a local trail, skiing weekly at a nearby mountain, visiting DC area museums, or attending family friendly concerts, Toriand her family embrace life fully. Her daughter, Halley, has become as active in the community as her Mom with her ski racing, softball and soccer teams, drama and horseback riding camps, and piano lessons as well her own philanthropic endeavors. And Tori doesn’tmind being a spectator when it comes to watching Halley excel in her own adventures.

Recognizing that a sense of community requires active participation, Toribegan volunteering with the PTA even before her daughter was old enough for school! Once her daughter began kindergarten, she maximized her volunteer efforts both in Halley’s classroom and with the PTA. Her favorite committee has been the Fine Arts Committee where she booked the talent for the school assemblies that goes hand in hand with her prior concert promotion and publicist work. Prior to re-entering Real Estate Sales, Toriworked with New Orleans bands and local musicians to help produce their shows and promote their East Coast tours thus forging lifelong friendships with her “NOLA family.” She continues to unite Maryland, DC, and Virginia music fans with occasional email blasts inviting them to join her at area concerts.

But Tori'scontributions to society are not contained by local boundaries. She understands the true meaning of community and does not hesitate to come to the aid of other communities in need. In an immediate response to Hurricane Katrina, Torihelped rally the Falls Church and the Live Music communities to support her “brothers and sisters” hit by the storm. Through multiple hurricane relief benefits and auctions, hygiene product drives, a backpack drive, a holiday gift card drive, and a Mardi Gras Restaurant Week event, Torihas helped raise nearly $250,000 for those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Torihas visited New Orleans several times since August 2005 to provide hands on support with efforts in the hurricane ravaged areas of Chalmette in St. Bernard Parish and in the 9thWard. From building house with Habitat for Humanity in their Musicians Village to cleaning out musicians homes in the 9thWard to visiting the St. Bernard Parish Schools, Tori’sendless efforts for the adopted city that she loves continue to inspire her friends in the community and across the country. And Toriand Halley can hardly wait to make their next annual trip to their “Creole” home away from home where they reunite with family and friends from all over the country each spring. Her love for the people and culture of New Orleans has instilled the same sense of pride of place and charity in Halley. For their hurricane relief efforts, Toriand Halley were recognized by the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce with a joint Humanitarian of The Year Awardin 2006.

Toriputsthe same positive spirit and energy into her career as in her personal life and her volunteering efforts. “There’s nothing like finding your way home. I love my work, because I can channel my energyhelping people … helping people find the home of their dreams." That is the biggest reward of all.
